Care ‘Outside the Bathroom’
Brushing twice daily with a specially formulated desensitising toothpaste with fluoride, such as Sensodyne Repair & Protect, Sensodyne Complete Protection or Sensodyne Rapid Relief, is one of the most effective ways to help manage tooth sensitivity while also helping to keep your teeth and gums healthy. However, there are other ways to help manage tooth sensitivity.
- Don’t skip visits to the dentistHow often you see your dentist depends upon your individual oral health, and your dentist will recommend a frequency of visits that is right for you.
- Prevent teeth grinding If you know you grind your teeth, or if you feel discomfort in your teeth when you wake up in the morning, we recommend that you ask your dentist about this as soon as you can.
Enjoying your favourite food and drinks
Over time, acidic foods and drinks can contribute to acid erosion and tooth wear. These include fruit and fruit juices, carbonated drinks, black coffee or tea, wine and anything that tastes sharp, like ketchup or salad dressing. If you are at risk of acid wear, talk to your dentist for advice, for example, on how best to consume acidic foods and drinks in your daily diet. You can also try a toothpaste specially formulated to help protect teeth against acid erosion such as Pronamel.
